Hope House is an outreach ministry of 2nd Mile Urban Ministries. Hope House is a long-term faith based teen home for students between the ages of 14-18 (if still in H.S) that exists to provides a nurturing environment to support homeless youth in achieving success in all areas of their lives.
Hope House believes that we are created Body, Soul(mind) and Spirit. The home provides a series of enrichment activities and life skills groups that help develop the Body, Soul and Spirit. The goal of the enrichment is to help residents become well rounded and learn the life skills necessary for independence. Activities or groups fall under one of the 3 categories: Body, Soul (mind) and Spirit.
Hope House is a fulfillment of James 1:27 “Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans in their distress. (NLT)
Body: Develop the physical body. Examples are physical education, participation in organized sports, dance, martial arts and more.
Soul: Teach hard and soft life skills. Hard life skills are concrete skills such as: Study skills, goal setting, leadership development, cooking, money management, job skills etc. Soft life skills help you get along with others and get your needs met in positive ways such as: communication, healthy relationship and anger management.
Spirit: Developing the Spiritual and creative side of the resident. Examples creative in the arts: music, drama and murals. Spiritual development with Biblical studies and service projects.
HOMELESS YOUTH San Diego County has the fourth largest population of homeless people in the United States.. of the 9,160 homeless people; 1,160 are unaccompanied homeless youth, ages 18-24.
